Happy Thanksgiving Anderson Readers!

It has been quite a while since I have posted anything to the Anderson Library Blog! I have been a little busy in the library, and I am using the Anderson Library Website to post important information about the library. I am trying to use the blog to post about books. Since it is almost Thanksgiving, I have been sharing some of my old favorites along with a few new ones about Thanksgiving or related to the Thanksgiving holiday we celebrate here in America! One of my newest favorites (which I just found out is on the 2013-2014 Texas Bluebonnet Nominee list) is Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet. Not only is the book in a genre I adore (Biography), but it is also about a tradition I have long celebrated since I was a little girl with my family (watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade). The story is about Tony Sarg, creater of the balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. You will find Balloons Over Broadway under call number, B SAR.

One is a Feast for Mouse: A Thanksgiving Tale by Judy Cox

Anderson Readers first met Mouse in Haunted House, Haunted Mouse. In this Thanksgiving tale, Mouse finds everyone sleeping in the house and leftovers from Thanksgiving dinner on the table. Creeping out of his hidey-hole, Mouse sneaks to the Thanksgiving table and proceeds to gather up tidbits and larger morsels of food to take back to his hidey-hole for a mouse-sized feast or two! Welcome Back to School and to the Library!

I can't believe that we have officially started the 2012-2013 school year here in Frisco ISD! Welcome back to school readers. I hope all of you were able to enjoy reading lots of different things this summer. Remember that I had posted a Get Caught Reader Challenge on the blog at the end of the school year. Many of you have entered your summer reading information on the form accessed through the Get Caught Reading page on the blog. I am extending the deadline to get all your information entered on the separate forms for the books you have read until Friday, August 31st! At the end of the day, I will compile all the information entered and determine the readers that met the challenge. These readers will then be invited to a popsicle party in Nature's Alley in the upcoming weeks. Also, don't forget to send in your summer photos! I will be posting those photos over the next few days just outside the library. It is great to see you all back at Anderson. I look forward to the most outstanding year ever in the library!

eReader Workshop @ Frisco Public Library

Calling all kids and parents too that would like to know more about using their eReader devices! Frisco Public Library is hosting an eReader workshop on May 10th from 5-6 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Frisco Public Library in the Children's Programming Room. Anyone that would like to know more about how to download eBooks and audiobooks from both the public library and Frisco ISD's own Overdrive would benefit from attending this free workshop. Preschool Story Time: Times for Second Semester of School

Hello all my preschool readers! I wanted to let you know that we will be meeting again starting January 18th for our preschool story time. The time will change to 8:30-9:00 for story time. Our meeting dates in the Anderson library are:

January 18th
February 1st, 15th, and 29th
March 21st
April 4th
May 2nd and 16th

I hope to see many preschool readers and their parents in the Anderson Library! We really enjoyed some of the fun books read aloud and helping the preschoolers find some great books to check out and take home! See you in the library soon.
