eBooks for eReaders & Audiobooks
If you answered no, it may be because you don't know what Overdrive is or you are not aware of how simple it can be to download eBooks onto an eReader or audiobooks onto compatible listening devices. Several things I love about having an eReader and using Frisco ISD's Overdrive is that I can download and read some great books for free (Yes, for free at no cost to you. All you need is a library id number from your campus library), I can take several books with me wherever I go without the heavy load of a regular book, and I can read without a book light in the dark!
Just recently, hundreds of new books have been added to Frisco ISD's online digital library. Students, parents, and teachers can checkout books via Overdrive 24/7 from home or anywhere a wireless connection is accessible at http://friscoisd.lib.overdrive.com. If you have an iPad or iPhone, there is even an Overdrive app that makes downloading titles super simple.
Students and parents can check out two elementary items at a time for two weeks from Overdrive. Teachers can check out two items from any grade level served in FISD. All FISD schools share the same Overdrive collection, so if a book you are searching for is not available just be patient, place a digital hold or put it on your wish list and try again another time.
To get started, download the Overdrive App to search for free books to checkout on your smartphone, iPad, or other App drive eReader. You can also download books to your computer from the Overdrive website to be transferred to an eReader device. Overdrive can be a little tricky the first time you try it. Don't give up-it is well worth the setup time! Use the help features on the Overdrive site or feel free to visit with Mrs. Littlejohn, the Anderson Librarian about how to use Overdrive.
