Happy Thanksgiving Anderson Readers!

It has been quite a while since I have posted anything to the Anderson Library Blog! I have been a little busy in the library, and I am using the Anderson Library Website to post important information about the library. I am trying to use the blog to post about books. Since it is almost Thanksgiving, I have been sharing some of my old favorites along with a few new ones about Thanksgiving or related to the Thanksgiving holiday we celebrate here in America! One of my newest favorites (which I just found out is on the 2013-2014 Texas Bluebonnet Nominee list) is Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet. Not only is the book in a genre I adore (Biography), but it is also about a tradition I have long celebrated since I was a little girl with my family (watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade). The story is about Tony Sarg, creater of the balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. You will find Balloons Over Broadway under call number, B SAR.

For a quick summary of the book, click on the video below:

A few other books I have been sharing with students in the library are:

We Gather Together...Now Please Get Lost! by Diane deGroat

In this Thanksgiving themed tale, Gilbert and his class are headed to a Pilgrim village to learn about Pilgrim life. After waking up on the wrong side of the bed and arriving tardy to school, Gilbert gets stuck being partners with Phillip (the class tattletale). Gilbert successfully avoids Phillip once his class arrives at the Pilgrim village and finds himself in a situation nobody would want to be in due to his poor choices. Will Gilbert reunite with his classmates and his partner Phillip, or be forced to spend the night in an unpleasant place in the Pilgrim village all by himself? Read this delightful tale to find out. Find this book and more of Diane deGroat's books in the Anderson Library under call number E DEG. Click on Diane deGroat's name above to visit her delightful website and learn more about her as an author and more about her books!

One is a Feast for Mouse: A Thanksgiving Tale by Judy Cox

Anderson Readers first met Mouse in Haunted House, Haunted Mouse. In this Thanksgiving tale, Mouse finds everyone sleeping in the house and leftovers from Thanksgiving dinner on the table. Creeping out of his hidey-hole, Mouse sneaks to the Thanksgiving table and proceeds to gather up tidbits and larger morsels of food to take back to his hidey-hole for a mouse-sized feast or two! Unfortunately, Cat wakes up. Will Mouse make it back to his hidey-hole with a feast for one, or will he get caught in the act? Watch the book trailer below to find out more about this book. Be sure to visit the Anderson Library to check out One is a Feast for Mouse: A Thanksgiving Tale, call number E COX.

Happy Reading and Happy Thanksgiving Anderson Readers!!!
